Trump surprised Congress by honoring him.. What is the story of the child "DJ" who has the title "Secret Service Agent"?

US President Donald Trump surprised Americans on Tuesday by honoring a 13-year-old cancer survivor, DJ Daniel, from Texas, during his first address to the joint session of Congress.

Trump gave the child the title of "Secret Service Agent," making him a member of the Secret Service, fulfilling his dream of joining the US police and working as a police officer.

DJ's arduous journey began with his diagnosis in 2018 with a rare form of cancer, and doctors gave him only five months to live. But despite all the odds, DJ defied expectations and refused to give up on his dream of becoming a police officer.

DJ Daniel joined President Trump in the joint session of Congress this morning, a 13-year-old boy battling cancer who has been sworn in as an honorary officer more than 900 times.

“The doctors gave him five months to live,” Trump said on the House floor. “That was over six years ago. And since that time, DJ and his father have been on a mission to make his dream come true.”

He also announced: “Tonight, DJ, we are going to give you the greatest honor of all. I am asking the new Secret Service Director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service.”

As Trump spoke, the chamber erupted in applause. In a rare moment of unity, more than a dozen Democrats joined Republicans in rising to their feet to celebrate DJ. His father, overcome with emotion, lifted his son high into the air as the chamber’s gallery chanted his name: “DJ!  DJ!”

Moments later, Secret Service Director Curran approached the young boy and presented him with an official badge. A beaming DJ hugged Curran as cheers echoed throughout the room.

For a brief moment, political divisions melted away as lawmakers on both sides of the aisle celebrated the inspiring story of a boy who had overcome adversity, the news site reported.

As Trump moved on to discussing his administration’s health policies, the applause from Democrats died down. In silent protest, Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib held up a white board that read, “You’ve cut cancer research,” a reference to the president’s budget decisions.
